Create Priced Options

 Pro-Tip

When a new priced option is created, that priced option can take up to an hour to display on your storefront. If the priced option is still not displaying after an hour, please visit Product Options not Displaying and follow the steps under New Options not Displaying on Storefront to resolve the issue.

  1. From within Product Options, select Options from the top navigation bar.
  2. Create a new option set, or select Edit next to an existing option set you'd like to add additional charges to.

  6. Enter the price or Select Variant and choose your existing product.

Note: Only a dollar amount can be used when creating a priced option.

  7. Under How do you want to handle quantities?, select a value.

Note: Visit our Options FAQ for a detailed explanation of these options.

  8. Repeat Steps 4-7 for each option that will have an additional cost, then select Save once you're done with that option set.
  9. Select Save Option Set.

Edit Priced Options

 Pro-Tip

When an existing priced option is edited, any changes made can take up to an hour to get updated on your storefront. If the changes you made are still not displaying after an hour, please visit Product Options not Displaying and follow the steps under New Options not Displaying on Storefront to resolve the issue.

When an option has Create A Charge selected, saving the option will then force the app to display Use Existing Variant instead of Create A Charge. This is because once a charge has been assigned and saved to an option, a new Shopify product is created. This cannot be switched back to display Create A Charge.

Each charge created within Bold Product Options will create 1 Shopify product tagged as OPTIONS_HIDDEN_PRODUCT.

Editing newly created charges must be done from within the Shopify admin via View in store to edit.

Editing Priced Options

  1. From within Product Options, select Options.
  2. Select Edit next to an existing option set you'd like to add additional charges to.
  3. Under Options, select Edit next to the option you want to adjust.
  4. Select View in store to edit and make the necessary changes to the price of the option you're adjusting.

Note: It is important to save your changes from both the Product Options app and the Shopify admin. Saving your changes in only 1 spot will result in issues on your storefront.

  5. Select Save.

"How do you want to handle quantities"

When you set up your product options and use the Adjust price selection, you can then choose one of 5 ways to handle the quantities.

To view these options, select Show Advanced Settings.

Select Show Advanced Settings=

How Do You Want To Handle Quantities

Option quantity matches product quantity

When using this selection, the number of products the customer has chosen will determine the number of options that are added (IE. 1 product = 1 option).

The quantity and price will display in the checkout as a total for the product combined with its option, and the subtotal will show the total of all products and options combined as one amount.

Customer can choose option quantity

The customer can select the number of options they receive (IE. 1 product can come with more than 1 option).

The quantity and price will display in the checkout as a total for the product combined with its options, and the subtotal will show the product totals and the options totals as two separate amounts.

The quantity entered will be multiplied based on the quantity of base product chosen.

Example

  • Base product: $20
  • Option: $5
If the customer purchases one product with three options, the calculations would be:
  • Base product: $20 x 1 = $20
  • Options: $5 x 3 = $15
  • Total: $20 + $15 = $35

Add one option item per product in cart

The customer can select 1 option for each product, so each product in the cart will have its own option.

The subtotal will show the amount for the products combined, and the amount for the options separately. The option quantity will stay at 1 no matter what the quantity is for that product.

Add one option item for the entire cart

The customer can order only 1 option for the entire cart even if they chose an option for each product.

The subtotal will show the amount for the products combined, plus the amount for the options separately. The option quantity will stay at 1 no matter how many items are in the cart.

Add one option per line item

The customer will be charged once for a priced option for each variant that is added to the cart for a single product.

Example

A customer adds 2 mittens to their car: 1 large and 1 small. A gift wrapping priced option is then applied to both sizes.

If the customer changes the quantity for one of the mittens in the cart, the gift wrapping will remain at a quantity of 1 for each mitten size.
